01Check the openingConfirm the finished wall-to-wall opening, the hinge-side support, the plumb of the mounting surfaces and the swing clearance for an 8′ × 8′ gate.
02Assemble the frameBuild the Universal DIY frame according to the layout, keeping the corners square and the lock-side orientation consistent.
03Install the ALU40 slatsLay out the selected 3/8″ or 1/2″ spacing, install the ALU40 slats and tighten the panel fasteners evenly.
04Mount the hinge hardwareAttach the 5-inch HD support hinge and confirm smooth rotation, alignment and load distribution before final tightening.
05Fit the receiver sideInstall the receiver-side components, stopper elements and any lock hardware, then confirm closing alignment and reveal consistency.
06Finish and inspectInstall caps and finishing parts, inspect the frame, confirm hardware movement and clean the coated aluminum surfaces.
01Verify the 8′ × 8′ sizeMeasure the opening carefully and confirm this larger single-swing configuration is the intended fit for the project.
02Confirm wall-to-wall mountingThe standard Universal DIY version is wall-to-wall only. Concrete-footing conditions require an HD post upgrade requested in advance.
03Choose the gap optionSelect 3/8″ or 1/2″ slat spacing according to the desired privacy level, light passage and visual effect.
04Plan the lock and latchLock hardware is not included. Verify the selected latch or lock body and the mounting clearances needed for the wide lock-side frame.
05Consider hinge load and windAn 8×8 single-swing leaf has more sail area and weight than a smaller gate, so rigid support and wind exposure should be evaluated early.
06Arrange installation helpThis system is designed for DIY assembly, but a helper is strongly recommended when lifting, hinging and aligning a gate of this size.
