This DIY aluminum gate kit builds a horizontal slat pedestrian gate for side yards, walkways and garden entries. The parts are pre-cut at our Southern California factory, so it assembles with standard tools and no welding. 6063-T6 aluminum with an AAMA 2604 powder coat means it will not rust, rot or need painting.

A fence panel on hinges is not a gate.

Every Aluglobus gate starts with a complete frame: vertical frames, top and bottom members, a slat track and a stopper. The slats sit inside the frame, so the leaf stays square and the hinges carry a frame, not a loose panel.

Does the woodgrain finish need staining or sealing?

No routine wood staining or sealing is required because the gate is aluminum with a finished woodgrain surface rather than a structural wood gate.

Is the aluminum non-combustible?

Yes. The gate uses a non-combustible aluminum substrate. Final project compliance depends on the complete assembly, surrounding materials, clearances and applicable local requirements.

Can I use self-closing hardware?

Self-closing capability can be coordinated with the hinge system, but true self-closing performance typically requires a suitable spring or hydraulic closer selected for the gate and project requirements.

Where does this 4×6 gate work best?

Is there any gap between the boards?

No. The ALU 50-60 profiles use tongue-and-groove joints that lock together, so there's no gap between the boards. That gives you a more private look than spaced-slat gates.

What comes in the kit?

The kit includes the 4′ × 6′ DIY gate frame in black, 6 ALU 60 T&G 6 ft wood-look slats and 8 black 7/8 plugs. Posts are ordered separately.

Is the whole gate woodgrain?

The T&G slats have the woodgrain finish. The kit lists the gate frame in black.

Does the kit include a lock?

Lock hardware isn't listed in the kit contents. The gate works with common US-size pedestrian gate locks.

Which post option do I need?

For a wall-to-wall opening, use the hinge post + L-side post. For other mounting conditions, choose the 3.15 post, the 3 in. HD post or the 4 in. HD post, depending on footing.
