It is a 2x2in post listed for wall installation only and for use as a pedestrian gate post, made from 6063-T6 aluminum with AAMA 2604 super-durable powder coating in black.
The only listed difference between this post and the 6 ft hinge post is length. Pick the length that suits your gate height and how the post will sit against the wall. The listed L-Side Post is 6 ft, so if you want both sides of the opening to match at 8 ft, confirm options with our team before ordering.
An 8 ft hinge post suits situations where the wall rises above the gate and you want the post to run further along it, or where the gate itself calls for a longer hinge side. The extra length gives more of the post to fix against the wall. It carries the same kit contents as the shorter version, including the cap, baseplate and striker hardware, so no extra fixings are needed to install it.
The aluminum construction resists rot and rust, which is useful against masonry walls that stay damp after rain. The black powder coating matches our black gate frames and hardware.

6063-T6 is an architectural aluminum alloy made for extruded profiles. It gives clean, consistent shapes and takes a powder coating evenly, which is why it is widely used for fences, gates and other exterior building products.
AAMA 2604 is the American Architectural Manufacturers Association specification for high-performance organic coatings, powder coatings included, on aluminum extrusions. It sets test requirements for outdoor color and gloss retention, chalking and corrosion resistance.
