Many side-yard gates sit between the house and a boundary wall, where there is no room – or no need – to dig post holes. This aluminum gate post kit for wall installation covers that situation with two 2x2in posts, 6 ft long: a hinge post for the side the gate swings from, and an L-Side Post for the opposite side of the opening. In our price list it is the Hinge Post + L-Side Post (Wall to Wall Installation) option for DIY pedestrian gates.
Both posts are 6063-T6 aluminum with AAMA 2604 super-durable powder coating in black.
The fixings are listed with either a 3/8" x 3" anchor bolt or a 3/8 x 3" hex head wood screw for the baseplate. If you are unsure which suits the surface you are fixing to, confirm with our team.
This kit is listed as a post option for our boxed DIY pedestrian gate kits and DIY gate frame kits, for example the ALU 40 4×6 DIY pedestrian gate kit and the ALU 60 T&G 4×6 privacy gate kit. Buying both posts together keeps the finish and fixings matched on each side of the gate.
Ordering the hinge post and L-Side Post together means both sides arrive in the same finish and length, with a full set of caps, baseplates and striker hardware for each. It is also the option the price list names first for wall-to-wall gates, so it lines up with the way our DIY pedestrian gate kits are planned. Aluminum posts will not rot at the base like timber posts fixed to a wall, and the powder-coated finish only needs occasional cleaning.

2x2in Hinge Post & L-Side Post Kit 6 ft is made from aluminum 6063-t6, finished with AAMA 2604 super-durable powder coating – Black.
6063-T6 is an architectural aluminum alloy made for extruded profiles. It gives clean, consistent shapes and takes a powder coating evenly, which is why it is widely used for fences, gates and other exterior building products.
AAMA 2604 is the American Architectural Manufacturers Association specification for high-performance organic coatings, powder coatings included, on aluminum extrusions. It sets test requirements for outdoor color and gloss retention, chalking and corrosion resistance.
