The hinge side of a gate carries the weight of the leaf every time it opens. This 6 ft aluminum gate hinge post gives that side a dedicated 2x2in aluminum post, fixed to a wall rather than set in the ground. It is listed for wall installation only and for use as a pedestrian gate post. The post is 6063-T6 aluminum with AAMA 2604 super-durable powder coating in black.

Hanging a gate straight off a wall can leave the hinges fighting uneven masonry or siding. A separate aluminum hinge post gives the gate hinges a straight, square surface to fix to, which makes it easier to hang the leaf level. The box includes the post cap, baseplate and fixings, so the post arrives ready to install, and the 6063-T6 aluminum will not rot or swell like a timber post against a damp wall.
Remember that this is a wall-only post. If one side of your opening is open ground rather than a wall, choose a footing post for that side instead, such as the 3.15 post or an HD post, and confirm the combination with our team.

6063-T6 is an architectural aluminum alloy made for extruded profiles. It gives clean, consistent shapes and takes a powder coating evenly, which is why it is widely used for fences, gates and other exterior building products.
AAMA 2604 is the American Architectural Manufacturers Association specification for high-performance organic coatings, powder coatings included, on aluminum extrusions. It sets test requirements for outdoor color and gloss retention, chalking and corrosion resistance.

Complete the system
The boxed DIY pedestrian gate kits and the parts sold for them: 2×2 in. hinge posts and L-side posts for wall installation, and the gate slat boxes in ALU 40 and ALU 60 T&G.
Measure the opening between the two walls (these posts are for wall installation).
Choose the kit size (4×6 or 6×6 ft) and the slat style (ALU 40 with a gap, or ALU 60 T&G with no gap).
Choose the color offered for the kit.
Add hinge post / L-side post sets and slat boxes only if you are building or replacing parts.
