Slats and rails
A single 8 ft Alu 40 slat in black powder coat, sold by the piece for fences, pedestrian and sliding gates, wall toppers and patio pergolas.
$43.23
This black aluminum fence slat 8 ft long is an Alu 40 profile sold by the piece. It is a flexible building block: the same slat can fill a fence section, a pedestrian gate, a sliding gate, a wall topper or the shade infill of a patio pergola. Buying individual pieces lets you order the exact count for a custom layout instead of a fixed kit quantity.
ALU 40 black slat fence project
Alu 40 is the 4-inch slat in the Aluglobus Aluminum Systems range, giving a bold horizontal line with fewer visible joints than narrow profiles.
For gates, pair the slats with a frame from our aluminum gates range. For pergola projects, see the pergola category.
This slat is listed in the Gen 2.0 by-the-piece series. The newer boxed fence kits use Gen 3.0 slats such as the Alu 40 slat from box. If you are adding to an existing fence, tell our team which system you have so the slat, brackets and spacers match.
Kits suit standard sections, but many projects are not standard. A wall topper might need three rows along one wall and five along another; a gate may need a slat count that no kit offers. Buying individual 8 ft slats lets you match the order to the drawing, keep a couple of spares for future repairs, and avoid paying for boxed parts you will not use. The black powder coat also pairs with black posts, caps and gate frames for a consistent, modern look.
Count slats per section from your chosen gap and height, allow for any cuts, and keep the color consistent with posts and caps. Need longer stock? The 24 ft black Alu 40 slat reduces joins on wide openings, and a black aluminum fence slat 8 ft long remains the easiest size to carry, store and fit.
Material & finish
ALU 40 Slat 8 ft. – Black is made from aluminum 6063-t6, finished with AAMA 2604 Super-Durable Powder Coating in black.
6063-T6 is an architectural aluminum alloy made for extruded profiles. It gives clean, consistent shapes and takes a powder coating evenly, which is why it is widely used for fences, gates and other exterior building products.
AAMA 2604 is the American Architectural Manufacturers Association specification for high-performance organic coatings, powder coatings included, on aluminum extrusions. It sets test requirements for outdoor color and gloss retention, chalking and corrosion resistance.

Complete the system
Fence parts built around the 2.75 in. 2-way aluminum post: posts and boxed post kits, post spacers, caps and base plates, plus the ALU 40 and ALU 60 T&G slats and top rails used with them.
Measure the fence run and decide the post spacing (8 ft sections for the kits).
Pick the slat: ALU 40 with a 1/2 in. gap or ALU 60 T&G.
Choose the spacer size that sets the gap you want.
Choose how posts are installed: in concrete or on a base plate (anchors sold separately).
Add caps, top rails and screws, then confirm the color for every part.
