DIY aluminum sliding gate kit for wide driveway openings

A swing gate across a driveway needs a lot of clear space to open. A sliding gate runs sideways along a track instead, which suits sloped driveways, short setbacks and sites where cars park close to the gate. This DIY aluminum sliding gate kit is a boxed 19 ft x 6 ft height gate in black, built from 4in x 2in aluminum frames with a steel track, wheels and stoppers. It is non-motorized in every configuration, so you open and close it by hand.

The frames are 6063-T6 aluminum with AAMA 2604 super-durable powder coating, a finish chosen to hold its colour outdoors without the rust problems of a steel gate frame.

Four ways to order

Choose the configuration that matches how you want to finish the gate:

• Frames only (no motor) – the frame, track, wheels and stoppers, ready for infill you source yourself.
• With Alu 20 6ft slats – 84pcs of Alu 20 slat, a 2″ x 3/4″ profile, for a finer, more detailed pattern.
• With Alu 40 8ft slats – 30pcs of Alu 40, the 4-inch horizontal slat.
• With Alu 60 T&G 8ft slats – 20pcs (From Fence Box) Alu 60 T&G for a solid, tongue-and-groove face.

Matching the slats to your existing fence keeps the driveway gate in line with the rest of the property. If your fence uses Alu 40 or Alu 60 T&G, choose the same profile here.

The slat choice also changes how open the gate feels. Alu 20 creates a busier, finely lined surface; Alu 40 reads as broad horizontal bands; Alu 60 T&G interlocks into a closed face for the most privacy at the driveway. The frames-only option suits buyers who want to fit another compatible infill or who already have slats on hand – confirm compatibility with our team before combining parts.

What’s in the box

The frames-only configuration lists the frames, track and screws, wheels and stoppers without a roller guide. If you need one, the 6″ guide roller is sold separately.

Posts for a sliding gate

Posts are not included. The price list gives two post options for this gate:

• 3 in. Square Post – concrete footing or wall
• 4 in. Square Post – concrete footing

The 3×3 in. HD square post and the 4×4 in. HD square post are both listed for sliding gates. Which one you need depends on your site and local code, so confirm the post layout with our team before ordering.

Planning the install

Before ordering, measure the driveway opening and check that there is clear, level ground beside it for the gate to slide into. Look at the slope of the driveway along the track line and note any obstacles such as walls, planters or utility boxes. Check local code for gate requirements, and follow the included instructions during assembly. If the site is unusual, send photos and measurements to our team so we can confirm the kit is a good fit.
