Larger is not automatically better. The post should be selected around load, height, wind, connection and architectural proportion.

Beam Options

2-by-8-inch and 2-by-10-inch beam profiles are used across current patio systems, with lengths up to 24 feet listed on the main system page.

Actual clear span depends on roof load, tributary area, post spacing, attachment and engineering. A stock extrusion length is not the same as an approved unsupported span.

Base Plates and Foundations

Surface-mounted posts rely on the slab, footing, anchors and edge distances beneath the base plate.
