How to Install an Aluminum Fence on an Uphill Slope

A contractor-focused guide to creating a clean diagonal fence line with angled aluminum slats, square posts, C-channels, concealed fasteners and finished channel covers.

What the uphill installation uses

The Aluglobus system is modular. The slope is handled through the relationship between the slats, channel and vertical support, not by leaning the posts with the hill.

Step-by-step: how the diagonal fence line is created

The video shows the completed installation and verbally explains the cutting and fastening sequence. The steps below organize that method into a practical field workflow.

Survey the uphill run

Confirm the fence line, total elevation change, panel widths, retaining-wall conditions and post locations. Measure the rise over a known horizontal run so the diagonal angle can be planned before repetitive cuts begin.

Do not assume the grade is consistent across the full run.

Set or mount the posts plumb

Position the 3 x 3 square posts vertically even though the ground is sloped. Confirm spacing, alignment and mounting conditions before loading the system with slats.

Install the C-channels

Mount the channels to the square posts or approved wall surface in the required position. Maintain a straight installation reference so both ends of the slats enter at the intended depth.

Plan rear access before fixing a channel close to a property line or wall.

Mark the required angle

Bring the slat to the channel, transfer the actual angle and confirm orientation before cutting. A template can improve repeatability when the grade remains uniform, but field verification is still important.

Cut and test-fit each slat

Make a clean angle cut, deburr the edge and test the insertion depth. The slat should sleeve into the C-channel without binding, excessive force or a visible open gap at the face.

Secure from the back

Once the slat is positioned, fasten it through the rear of the C-channel. The video specifies two screws at each slat end. Use the fastener type and placement provided for the selected Aluglobus system and project detail.

Control spacing as the fence rises

Check the reveal between every slat and monitor the top and bottom lines as work progresses. Small spacing errors can compound across a full uphill panel.

Finish the channels

Install the appropriate gap covers, channel covers and end caps. Where the design includes a bottom C-channel, verify that it receives the slats cleanly without trapping debris or interfering with drainage.
