The panel profile, finish, orientation, trim package, waterproofing, substrate, attachment method, access, openings, freight, waste, and installation conditions can change the completed budget as much as the aluminum itself.

A flat interior feature wall with uninterrupted vertical panels is very different from a two-story exterior façade containing windows, corners, outlets, soffits, lighting, drainage, and scaffolding. Both may use the same finish, but the labor, trims, support, handling, and weather-management requirements are not comparable.

What Aluminum Wall Cladding Pricing Actually Includes

A cladding quote may describe a panel price, a complete material package, or a supplied-and-installed wall. These are three different scopes and should never be compared as though they include the same work.

Panel Price Versus Complete Material Package

The panel price covers the primary extruded aluminum profiles that form the visible wall surface. It may be listed by profile, linear foot, bundle, or square foot of face coverage.

A complete material package may also include starter components, finish trims, inside and outside corners, end caps, channels, clips, rails, fasteners, backing, protective packaging, and a calculated waste allowance. Exterior work may require compatible membrane, flashing, drainage, and transition components that are not part of a basic panel listing.

Long panels can cover a wall without a horizontal stacking joint, but they also require freight handling, storage, cutting space, and sufficient access to move the profiles into position. A low unit price can become a poor comparison when the quote omits the accessories and logistics required to finish the wall.

Coverage should be calculated from the actual face width rather than the product name. A profile described by an architectural look or nominal width may have a different effective coverage after the joint is engaged.

Supply-Only Versus Installed Cladding Cost

An installed price includes labor and may include the wall preparation, moisture-control layer, backing or subframe, trims, equipment, protection, cleanup, and project supervision. The exact inclusions should be listed rather than assumed.

A simple ground-floor wall can be measured, cut, and installed from the floor. A high façade may require scaffolding, lift equipment, fall protection, multiple installers, staged material handling, and greater time for each opening and corner.

Removal of existing siding, stucco repair, framing correction, waterproofing, insulation, electrical relocation, lighting cutouts, fire blocking, permits, engineering, and hazardous-material testing are often outside a standard cladding installation allowance.

Compare identical scopes. Before comparing two prices, confirm panel coverage, alloy, profile, finish, trims, waste, membrane, backing, freight, taxes, installation, access equipment, demolition, and final cleanup.

T&G Versus Click System Aluminum Cladding

T&G panels interlock along their edges to create a continuous surface with concealed fastening. The system is well suited to exterior façades, boundary walls, ceilings, gates, soffits, and feature walls where a mechanically connected face and consistent linear appearance are required.

Direct-fix T&G profiles can reduce the need for a separate decorative track, but the substrate must be suitable, straight, properly prepared, and capable of accepting the required fasteners. Irregular walls may need furring, shimming, plywood, or another approved backing before the panels can be aligned.

Panel length can reduce intermediate joints. A profile cut to the wall height can run continuously from starter to finish trim, creating a cleaner appearance and reducing the labor required to align stacked courses.

Complex corners, windows, recessed doors, outlets, lights, and material transitions still require precise cutting and trim planning. A simple interlocking joint does not eliminate the need to detail the perimeter of the cladding field.

Click System Cladding Cost Factors

The Click System uses a concealed rail or clip arrangement that receives the visible aluminum profiles. It can speed installation on suitable walls and can simplify the creation of evenly spaced architectural lines.

The rail package adds material, layout, and fastening steps before the visible profiles are installed. In return, the installer gains a repeatable panel location and a concealed attachment method that can be useful for interior feature walls, commercial spaces, ceilings, façades, and projects requiring efficient panel replacement.

Click systems can be particularly valuable where a repeatable shadow line or panel rhythm is more important than a completely closed T&G face. The correct spacing, rail centers, fastener type, substrate, and design loading must still be confirmed for the application.

The lower panel labor promised by a click system can be offset if the wall requires extensive correction or contains many short pieces. The most economical system is the one that fits the wall geometry and installation sequence, not automatically the one with the lowest panel price.

CLAD100 Versus CLAD120 Profiles

Profile selection affects visible scale, coverage, number of pieces, joint frequency, material price, cutting time, and the relationship between the wall and surrounding architecture.

CLAD100 Coverage and Visual Scale

CLAD100 creates a bold linear cladding appearance while maintaining a relatively narrow architectural rhythm. The published profile has an actual face width of approximately 5.410 inches and a standard length of 19 feet, giving about 8.56 square feet of coverage per full profile.

At the current published example price of $112.88 for a woodgrain teak profile, the primary panel material calculates to approximately $13.18 per square foot before waste, freight, trims, taxes, membrane, backing, fasteners, and labor.

The narrower coverage means more profiles and more engaged joints are required across a wall than with a wider face. This can increase handling and fastening time, while also creating a tighter architectural pattern that may be preferred for detailed feature walls and smaller elevations.

On tall walls, a 19-foot profile may cover the full height without a horizontal splice. On shorter walls, the cutting plan should consider whether offcuts can be used above doors, below windows, on returns, or on another project area.

CLAD120 Coverage and Visual Scale

CLAD120 uses a wider actual face of approximately 6.238 inches and a 19-foot standard length. One full profile covers approximately 9.88 square feet.

At the current published black-profile example price of $118.13, the primary panel material calculates to approximately $11.96 per square foot before the rest of the system and installation costs are added.

CLAD120 can cover a wall with fewer full-length profiles, reducing the number of joints and individual pieces. Its one-piece extrusion creates the appearance of multiple narrow planks, producing a refined shadow-line effect without installing each visual line as a separate board.

The wider effective coverage can improve installation efficiency on large uninterrupted surfaces. It does not automatically make every CLAD120 project cheaper because finish, orientation, waste, corners, openings, backing, and field access remain major cost variables.

Aluminum Grade, Powder Coating, and Woodgrain Finish Cost

Two panels with similar dimensions can have different costs because of alloy, wall thickness, profile geometry, pretreatment, coating specification, texture, color, pattern, production quantity, and quality-control requirements.

6063-T6 Architectural Aluminum and Profile Geometry

Aluminum is noncombustible as a base material. The complete wall assembly still includes substrate, membrane, insulation, sealants, fasteners, openings, adjacent finishes, and local building requirements that must be reviewed for the project.

Powder-Coated Colors and Woodgrain Aluminum

Standard powder-coated colors generally cost less than complex custom or wood-look finishes because they require fewer decorative processing steps and may be produced in larger batches.

Woodgrain aluminum uses a decorative transfer or sublimation process to create the visual variation of timber over the coated extrusion. It provides a warm appearance without exposing natural wood to moisture, insects, rot, or recurring staining.

Custom RAL colors, small production runs, unusual textures, matched gloss levels, and specialty wood patterns may create minimum quantities, setup charges, longer lead times, and additional sample approval steps.

Finish direction matters on woodgrain panels. Profiles installed vertically may display the pattern differently from horizontal panels. The cutting and layout plan should avoid random pattern changes at corners, doors, ceiling transitions, and adjacent gates.

Wall Substrate, Waterproofing, Subframing, and Drainage

The cladding is the visible layer. Its performance depends on the condition and detailing of the wall behind it.

Direct Fixing, Plywood Backing, and Furring

A straight, stable, approved substrate can allow direct attachment of a T&G cladding system. The installer still needs verified fastening locations, suitable fasteners, adequate edge distances, and a wall plane that will not transfer waves into the finished profiles.

Uneven masonry, damaged stucco, irregular framing, or walls with uncertain fastening support may require plywood, furring channels, rails, shims, or a designed subframe. Correcting the wall plane before the panels are installed normally produces a cleaner result than attempting to force long extrusions over an irregular surface.

The additional backing increases material and labor but can also create a service cavity, improve fastening access, and simplify alignment. It may be essential rather than optional when the original wall is not suitable.

Attachment design must account for cladding orientation, profile span, wind pressure, ceiling loads, wall height, exterior exposure, and the properties of the substrate.

Weather-Resistive Barriers, Flashing, and Water Paths

Exterior cladding should not be treated as the only water-control layer. A weather-resistive barrier, flashing, tapes, drainage plane, sill details, and transitions around windows and doors may be required to protect the wall assembly.

Water needs a path to drain outward. Bottom trims, openings, horizontal interruptions, parapets, roof connections, and penetrations should not trap moisture behind the panels.

Sealant should be used where specified, not as a substitute for properly lapped flashing. The detailing should recognize that long aluminum profiles and the supporting building move with temperature and loading.

Interior feature walls may not need exterior weatherproofing, but they still require planning around electrical boxes, television mounts, blocking, plumbing, sprinklers, access panels, ventilation, and future service.

Installation Labor, Building Access, and Design Complexity

Labor is lowest where long panels can be installed repeatedly without interruptions. It rises when each piece must be measured, cut, notched, fitted, protected, and aligned individually.

Simple Walls Versus Detailed Façades

A simple wall is flat, accessible, square, and ready for cladding. It has few corners, openings, or penetrations. Profiles can be cut in batches, and the installer can maintain a repeatable sequence.

A detailed façade contains windows, doors, returns, beams, parapets, outlets, lights, cameras, louvers, vents, hose bibs, signs, transitions, and multiple finish materials. Each condition interrupts the panel field and may require dedicated trim, backing, flashing, and sealant.

Small walls can have a higher cost per square foot than larger walls because mobilization, setup, measurements, minimum labor, equipment, and the trim package are spread over fewer square feet.

Custom curves, angled walls, radiused corners, concealed doors, and removable access panels should be designed before material is ordered. Field improvisation increases waste and can make replacement difficult.

Ceilings, Soffits, Heights, and Occupied Spaces

Ceiling and soffit installation is slower than wall installation because each profile must be lifted, supported, aligned, and fastened overhead. Lighting, sprinklers, fans, speakers, heaters, cameras, and access panels add coordination.

High exterior work may require scaffolding, boom lifts, swing stages, fall protection, barricades, spotters, and controlled material lifting. Equipment access and rental duration should be included in the budget.

Restaurants, stores, offices, apartment buildings, and occupied homes may restrict work hours, noise, dust, access, storage, and shutdowns. Protecting finished flooring, landscaping, furniture, vehicles, and customer areas also adds labor.

Long profiles need a safe route from the delivery area to the wall. A 19-foot extrusion may not fit through a stairwell, elevator, side yard, interior corridor, or completed doorway without a planned handling strategy.

Aluminum Wall Cladding Cost and Budgeting

Published aluminum-siding calculators often describe basic residential lap siding. Architectural extruded cladding is a different product category, with heavier profiles, concealed joints, custom finishes, long lengths, specialty trims, and more detailed installation.

For context, a current national calculator places basic installed aluminum siding near $8.87 to $14.78 per square foot under favorable conditions. Current Aluglobus product examples place the primary CLAD100 or CLAD120 profile material near $12 to $13 per square foot before the rest of the project is added. Architectural installations therefore need a wider planning allowance.

Cost Components to Include

The profile material is the starting point. Add waste, starter and finish trims, corners, backing or rails, membrane, flashing, fasteners, freight, equipment, labor, protection, cleanup, and taxes.

Industry budgeting guidance commonly adds approximately 10 to 20 percent of the cladding material allowance for trims on projects with typical complexity. Projects with many corners, windows, doors, soffits, and transitions can exceed that allowance.

Labor should be estimated from the installation method and wall geometry rather than a universal square-foot rate. Ground-floor feature walls, high façades, and detailed ceilings are different labor categories.

Wall-Size Budget Examples

A 100-square-foot feature wall may carry a high cost per square foot because it still needs mobilization, trims, measurements, and minimum labor. At a broad installed planning range of $25 to $45 per square foot, the wall may fall around $2,500 to $4,500 before special backing, lighting, freight, taxes, or demolition.

A 300-square-foot exterior accent façade at the same broad range may begin around $7,500 to $13,500. A detailed two-story elevation or ceiling using a $40 to $75 planning range may move from $12,000 to $22,500 for the same 300 square feet.

These examples demonstrate why a single price per square foot is not enough. The project must define which range fits the system, finish, wall, access, and installation conditions.

Wall Measurements, Waste, Cuts, and Material Takeoff

A complete takeoff turns the design into quantities. It should identify the panel coverage, full profile lengths, cut plan, perimeter trims, corners, openings, orientation, backing, fasteners, and waste.

Measure Every Surface and Transition

Record the width and height of each wall section separately. Do not combine several elevations into one total before identifying their orientation and cut requirements.

Measure windows, doors, columns, returns, soffits, parapets, beams, gates, service panels, outlets, vents, cameras, lights, switches, and transitions to other materials.

Check the wall at several points. Floors, ceilings, parapets, and corners may not be level, straight, square, or parallel. The cladding layout should decide where variations will be absorbed.

For long profiles, document the delivery and handling route. A design that needs full-height pieces is only practical if those pieces can reach the wall safely.

Waste Percentage and Reusing Offcuts

A simple rectangular wall with panels running in the efficient direction may need approximately five percent waste. Complex layouts, diagonal cuts, many openings, short alternating pieces, pattern matching, and damage allowance may require ten percent or more.

Waste should be calculated by profile length, not only square footage. A short piece cut from a 19-foot profile may leave an offcut that cannot be used elsewhere even though the remaining area looks substantial.

Offcuts can sometimes be reused over doors, below windows, on short returns, inside gates, or on another wall with the same orientation and finish. The reuse plan should be established before the first cuts are made.

Keep replacement material when practical. Future additions or repairs may be difficult to match exactly because of production batches, gloss, woodgrain pattern, and natural weathering of the installed finish.

Aluminum cladding profiles can be used beyond a conventional exterior façade. The application changes the attachment, trim, access, safety, and finish requirements.

Exterior Façades, Entries, Garages, and Boundary Walls

Exterior façades need coordinated water management, perimeter flashing, movement, fasteners, backing, and access. Street-facing elevations may also require design review, permits, or compliance with community standards.

Entry walls and garage façades are popular accent applications because a smaller cladding area can transform the visible portion of a building without wrapping the entire structure.

Boundary walls can coordinate with aluminum fences and gates. The cladding support and wall-top condition should be reviewed separately from a building façade because the masonry construction and exposure may be different.

Columns and narrow returns can create disproportionate trim and labor. Their cost should not be estimated using the same rate as a wide uninterrupted wall.

Interior Walls, Ceilings, Soffits, Gates, and Screens

Interior feature walls avoid exterior weather exposure but may contain extensive electrical, audiovisual, acoustic, fire-stopping, and access requirements. Television walls need properly located blocking that can carry the mount independently of the decorative cladding.

CLAD profiles can be integrated into pedestrian gates, swing gates, sliding gates, fence sections, and wall toppers. In these applications, the gate or fence frame carries the structural loads. The cladding is infill and should not be treated as the complete moving frame.

Information Needed for a Complete Material Quote

A useful request includes dimensioned wall elevations, panel direction, selected profile, finish, substrate, interior or exterior use, height, openings, corners, ceiling areas, location, and desired installation schedule.

Photographs help identify access, windows, walls, returns, roof edges, utilities, and adjacent finishes. They do not replace dimensions or confirm the hidden wall construction.

The order should identify all starter, finish, inside-corner, outside-corner, end, and transition trims. Fasteners and anchors should be matched to the substrate and environmental exposure.

Custom colors and woodgrain finishes may require samples, batch approval, minimum quantity, and additional production time. Confirm the finish before the entire order is processed.

Freight Delivery and Protecting Long Profiles

Nineteen-foot profiles normally require freight shipping rather than parcel delivery. The shipment may use a custom crate or box to keep the extrusions aligned and protect the finished surfaces.

Confirm that the delivery location can receive the truck and unload the crate. A standard residential liftgate may not handle every long or heavy package. Forklift, equipment, labor, curbside restrictions, appointment requirements, and indoor storage should be planned before dispatch.

Inspect the packaging and material at delivery. Photograph visible damage before the crate is moved or opened, and follow the carrier and supplier procedures for documenting a freight claim.

Store profiles flat, supported, dry, and protected from construction traffic. Avoid trapping moisture between protective films and the finish. Do not place heavy material on top of long extrusions or lean them where they can bow.

The initial installed price is only one part of cladding value. Cleaning, recoating, repair, replacement access, durability, and future design changes affect the lifetime cost.

Cleaning and Routine Inspection

Powder-coated aluminum should be cleaned with water, mild soap, and non-abrasive tools. Coastal salt, irrigation deposits, dirt, pollution, leaves, and construction residue should not be allowed to build up around joints, trims, fasteners, or drainage paths.

Harsh solvents, abrasive pads, strong alkaline cleaners, and incompatible chemicals can damage the finish. The care method should follow the coating supplier’s recommendations.

Inspect corners, lower edges, penetrations, flashings, sealants, panels, clips, screws, and wall transitions. Correct water entry, loose components, impact damage, or failed perimeter sealant before the surrounding assembly is affected.

Ceilings and commercial interiors may need periodic access to lighting and services. Removable access areas should be designed so maintenance does not require cutting finished panels.
